Nature's Gentle Touch:
Saltwater Rinse:
A saltwater rinse is a simple yet powerful remedy that can help reduce inflammation and promote healing.
Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. Swish the solution around your mouth for 30 seconds. Spit it out and repeat 2–3 times a day.
Clove Oil:
Clove oil contains eugenol, a natural anaesthetic and antibacterial agent that can numb and disinfect the affected area. Use with caution!
Apply a small amount of clove oil to a cotton ball. Gently dab the cotton ball onto the affected tooth or gum area. Use this remedy up to three times a day as needed.
Cold Comfort:
For throbbing pain, a cold compress can be a lifesaver. Wrap some ice cubes in a clean cloth and apply it gently to your cheek near the source of the pain. The cold helps numb the area and reduce inflammation.
Aloe Vera Gel:
Aloe vera gel is another powerful natural remedy for gum pain. It has strong anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that can help treat gum disease.
Apply aloe vera gel directly to your inflamed gums, let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse. You can also use it as a mouth rinse by adding water.
Hydrogen Peroxide Rinse:
Hydrogen peroxide has antibacterial properties that can help fight infections and reduce pain. Mix equal parts of 3% hydrogen peroxide and water. Swish the solution around your mouth for 30 seconds. Spit it out and rinse your mouth with plain water. Use this remedy once a day until the pain subsides.
Herbal Remedies:
Herbs like turmeric and lemongrass have anti-inflammatory effects that may ease gum pain.
Make a paste with turmeric powder and water and apply it to your gums, or add a few drops of lemongrass oil to water and use it as a mouthwash.
Turmeric Paste:
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that can help reduce gum inflammation and pain.
Mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder with a small amount of water to form a paste. Apply the paste directly to the affected gums. Leave it on for 10–15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Use this remedy once daily.
Peppermint Tea Bags:
Peppermint has natural numbing properties that can help soothe tooth and gum pain. Brew a peppermint tea bag in hot water for a few minutes.
Allow the tea bag to cool slightly, then apply it to the painful area. Leave it on for 15–20 minutes. Repeat as needed.
Garlic:
Garlic has antimicrobial and pain-relieving properties that can help reduce tooth and gum pain. Crush a garlic clove to create a paste.
Apply the paste directly to the affected area. Leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse your mouth with warm water. Use this remedy once daily.
Ginger-Cayenne Paste:
Both ginger and cayenne have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties that can help alleviate dental pain. Mix equal parts of ginger powder and cayenne powder with a small amount of water to form a paste. Apply the paste to a cotton ball and place it on the affected tooth or gums. Leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse with warm water. Use this remedy as needed.
Oil Pulling:
Oil pulling is an ancient practice that involves swishing oil around your mouth to remove toxins and improve oral health. Use 1 tablespoon of coconut, sesame, or sunflower oil.
Swish the oil around your mouth for 15–20 minutes. Spit it out and rinse your mouth with warm water.
Brush your teeth as usual. Perform oil pulling once daily, preferably in the morning.
